I was scrolling through my Twitter notifications earlier today when I came across a message informing me that I was someone’s 100th follower. I have always sent out messages to my followers when they are my one of my Twitter milestones but in all my time using Twitter I have never had the privilege thrust back at me…until now!
The Twitter account in question was @DailyHints and I responded to their notification informing them how pleased I was to connect with them. Daily Hints requested my email and told me they would ‘reward me’ in some way. I sent them my email and thought no more of it.
At the end of a hard day’s work I was checking my emails when all of a sudden a new message appeared in my inbox. The message was from Amazon and it had the title ‘Amazon Gift Card’. My first thought was obviously ‘spam’ but on closer inspection it was from Daily Hints. I had been sent a £30 gift voucher to use on Amazon.
As you would expect I was thrilled with this gift and will spend the money wisely. But the main reason I have decided to blog about this is that I would like to highlight how much Daily Hints care about their Twitter followers, audience, readers and those engaging with them.
As I blog about social responsibility, this is exactly the kind of thing that sets some businesses and people apart from the rest. It is the attention to detail and genuine interest in others that should be applauded. It is far too easy to be selfish on Twitter and try to sell hard and push your views on others. For this reason it was ever so refreshing to connect with Daily Hints today.
